Banquet Server

To strive to exceed the expectations of our members and guests in a private function setting; to do everything to entertain and serve members and guests, making them feel we are here just for them.

The banquet server is responsible for providing efficient, courteous service to Club members and guests in a private function setting to enhance their dining enjoyment. A private function& may be any size, and will include Club special events, organized by a convenor within the Club.
Job tasks/List:
- To efficiently serve food and drinks in a friendly and courteous manner.
- To follow the service sequence and standards of the club, according to the training manual.
- To understand fully the requirements of the special event according to the specifications laid out on the special event sheet and contract.
- To be able to communicate both verbally and in writing the content of the orders with co-workers.
- To have complete knowledge of all menu items including preparation of those items.
- To assure that food and drink preparation and presentation are proper throughout the guests' dining experience before, during and after the event.
- To be knowledgeable in all liquor and wine service.
- To ensure proper set-up and maintenance of the service station, tables and common areas throughout the Club banquet facilities and the Clubhouse in general.
- To ensure sufficient set-up for service, including silverware, china, sugar, creamers, tea and coffee, according to function requirements.
- To ensure that all silverware, glasses and china are polished and set according to club standards.
- Knowledge of and adherence to all uniform requirements; to be professional in both appearance and manner at all times.
- To fold napkins, polish brass and silver items, manicure tables and environment in spare time.
- Knowledge of, respect for and adherence to all staff privileges and responsibilities.
- Adherence to schedules and attendance at all service staff meetings.
- To work well as a team member with the entire club staff.
- To be aware of all provincial laws pertaining to the sale and service of liquor and alcoholic beverages.
- Additional duties and responsibilities will be added from time to time.

Accountability/Key Relationships:
The banquet server is accountable to the Clubhouse Manager and on-duty supervisors. The server relates primarily with:
- Customers, fellow department line staff,
- Food and beverage supervisory personnel,
- Chefs and cooks, and
- The General Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Necessary Skills: In performing the required duties, the server must possess:
- Good organization skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, and
- The ability to coordinate the timing of the food and beverage services.

Required Experience/Qualifications: The server should bring to this position:
- A high level of physical fitness,
- A positive attitude, including reliability and the ability to work with minimum supervision,
- The ability to work swiftly and efficiently, including working well under pressure,
- A working knowledge of food and alcoholic beverages, and
- A basic knowledge of country club system software (Jonas)
